چکیده

This paper studies how well a search and matching model can describe aggregate Japanese labor market dynamics in a full information setting. We develop a discretetime search and matching model with productivity and separation shocks and use it as a data-generating process for our empirical analysis. Using Bayesian methods, we estimate the model for data on unemployment and vacancy postings in Japan. We …nd that the model is successful in matching the volatility in unemployment and vacancies while it does not match the volatility of output and wages. We also …nd that both productivity and separation shocks contribute to movements in unemployment and vacancies, but productivity shocks more so. JEL Classi…cation: C11; C51; E24; J64

Estimating a Search and Matching Model with Sticky Price and Staggered Wage Negotiation

This paper estimates a search and matching model of the aggregate labor market with sticky price and staggered wage negotiation. It starts with a partial equilibrium search and matching model and expands into a general equilibrium model with sticky price and staggered wage. I study the quantitative implications of the model. The results show that (1) the price stickiness and staggered wage are ...

Job Finding and Inflow to Unemployment : The Case of Iran

In order to analyze the labor market through search and matching theory, we need deep parameters namely, rate of inflow to the unemployment pool and job-finding rate. In other words, these rates are primary parameters of matching function; hence, estimating these parameters is an essential step for the use of search and matching theory in every economy. In this paper, we estimate these rates of...

An estimated search and matching model of the Japanese labor market

Lin, Ching-Yang, and Miyamoto, Hiroaki—An estimated search and matching model of the Japanese labor market This paper studies how well a simple search and matching model can describe aggregate Japanese labor market dynamics in a full information setting. We develop a discrete-time search and matching model with a convex vacancy posting cost and three shocks: productivity, separation, and markup...

تحلیل نقش مراکز کاریابی در بازار کار با نگاهی به تجربه ایران

Job centers have an outstanding role in the process of labor force employment through cutting the costs of labor force adjustment. This paper studies the dynamic models of the labor force demand with the aim of pinpointing job centers role in labor market. According to the results, "job search and matching" approach better and more thoroughly considers the role of job centers in the labor marke...

Labor Market Institutions and Aggregate Fluctuations in a Search and Matching Model

This paper explores the influence of labor market institutions on aggregate fluctuations. It uses a dynamic, stochastic, general equilibrium model characterized by search and matching frictions in the labor market and nominal rigidities in the goods market. It finds that firing costs and unemployment benefits can have substantial effects on aggregate fluctuations. Increasing firing costs decrea...
